August 6, 2004 - Scanned from Carl Sagan's gripping "The Dragons Of Eden: Speculations on the Evolution of Human Intelligence", one of Jacopo della Quercia's doors at St. Peters in Bologna, Italy.

August 7, 2004 - Probably from a cartoonist with a sense of humor, I found this in McGraw-Hill's "Pre-School Math" workbook, published in 1999. Thanks to Megan and Emily for the workbook.

August 8, 2004 - The first of two patented, government-owned subterranian drilling machines. I'll post the other tomorrow. They melt rock via various means, and use it to form smooth tunnel walls. First tested in New Mexico, of course...

August 9, 2004 - The other Subterrene patent I found. I sort of wish we applied this to the problems of traffic and pollution. The earth would be a lot nicer if all the interstates were underground, and the pollution was filtered out before it reached the air.

August 10, 2004 - The mokele-mbembe is a saurian that is well-known to pygmy tribes in the Congo region of Africa. The photo on the right is from a Japanese-led expedition in the early 70s that is purported to be a mokele-mbembe.

August 11, 2004 - An interesting parallel between Tolkien and Royal Arch Masonry. In The Lord of the Rings, of course, the all-seeing eye was the ultimate representation of evil.

August 12, 2004 - More anti-Masonic art from the good old days. Sent in by Terese. Thanks, Terese. Tell Mia I said hello.
August 13, 2004 - One of the many links between the Ku Klux Klan and Freemasonry, via the Knights Templar.
