3. What netgod put this compilation series together? High-C
4. There are three drum samples in the posse track that are played by real drummers. Where do they occur, and who are the bands sampled?
Okay, so I just went through and identified *all* of the samples I could. Maybe the ones you’re looking for are on this list, maybe not. We’ll just have to see! ;)
· High-C’s verse uses Eric Clapton’s “Cocaine”
· YTCracker’s verse uses what I believe is a sequence from Peter Gabriel’s “Shock the Monkey”
· Beefy’s verse uses what sounds like a snippet of “Tom Sawyer” by Rush
· MC Wreckshin’s verse uses a sample from M.I.A.’s “Bucky Done Gun” which is in turn a sample of the Rocky movie theme
· Funky49 uses a drum hit that sounds suspiciously like an old Beastie’s track in his verse, but I can’t place it… “Pass the Mic” maybe
· The Beefy intro to Doc Pop’s verse contains the drum breakdown to “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins
· The "whiteboy day" intro to Eggskin’s verse has what sounds to me like the beat from Orgy’s cover of the New Order classic “Blue Monday”
· The drumroll before HAM-star's verse sounds like the hit from the old Carson-era Tonight Show intro, but who can be sure And those are the ones I heard... or thought I heard.
5. What is your favorite Rhyme Torrents track? “Big Lie” by Rai (with myf’s “Top Secret” a close second)
6. List the names of ALL the female MCs that appear on the Rhyme Torrents discs. Nursehella, MC Router, Sashra, Betty Rebel of EPP, Rai, Lady Bang of BRP, Savvy1 of FAL, Li’l Nix, Cindy Wonderful and Sarah Adorable of Scream Club, the chic who sings for FSR (not exactly an MC, but it felt wrong not to include her)
The only thing Z. missed, due to my original, poorly-worded question were two of the three drumrolls. The one that precedes the High-C verse is from "Pleasure to Kill" by Kreator, and the one that comes before Sir-Up's verse is from Slayer's "Necrophiliac". HA! I knew nerdcore people would never guess thrash metal samples. ; )
